So what colour Rose will you wear on Thursday?

I see that the Hazel Blears, the Community Secretary wants public sectors workers to wear "England's Red Rose" symbol on Thursday which is St Georges Day. Have a good one England.

Clearly she know little about history or is it because the Red Rose is the symbol of the Labour Party?

Let us remind her that the Tudor or English Rose is a fusion of the White Rose and the Red Rose.

“Plantagenet: Since you are tongue tied, and so loath to speak,
In dumb significants proclaim your thoughts:
Let him who is a true-born gentleman,
And stands upon the honour of his birth,
If he believe that I have pleaded truth,
From this briar pluck a white rose with me.

Somerset : Let him that is no coward nor no flatterer,
But dare maintain the party of the truth,
Pluck a red rose from off this thorn with me.”

Henry VI Part One, II.iv.25-32

There you go though. Just another example of how those who govern us have no idea of our history.

Personally if I were English I would wear a White Rose and damn the symbol of the Labour Party and those who are its members.

Cheers Mike. Here you go guys, some great shots of yesterdays march.
